Why Strong Female Characters Are Bad for Women

Re: Hollywood’s version of a “strong female character”

Flawed characters are compelling vs Hollywood operating as a doughy teenage male creating 2D characatures.

If anything, at least it’ll look good?

The upcoming film “A Single Man” is directed by Tom Ford; stars Lee Pace, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, and Matthew Goode; and includes work by the production designers of “Mad Men”.  Say no more!  I will watch this.

I can’t believe Hollywood has decided to remake Let the Right One In / Låt den rätte komma in. A remake could be justified if it were 40 years down the road, but not after only 1 year… especially based on the quality of this film.

Of course, Tomas Alfredson - the original director - is also unhappy about this.  Alfredson has been reported as saying that “Remakes should be made of movies that aren’t very good, that gives you the chance to fix whatever has gone wrong” and expressing concern that the end result would be too mainstream.  Don’t fix what isn’t broken!

The novel’s author, John Ajvide Lindqvist, on the otherhand is pretty excited.

:(
